“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 ESV
We had our son's family over for a meal and to spend a little time with them. As we waited for their arrival, we continued about our life and our preparations, we didn't stop everything and sit at the door, frozen in place until we heard them arrive. But when they arrived, they became our focus; we enjoyed seeing them, hearing the things they shared, and of course being able to embrace them. Having them present in our home is always a special time of joy for us.
Our relationship with Christ should be such that we are continuously going about his business and our preparations, but we always keep our ears open for him, for the sights, sounds, and evidence of his arrival. When he makes his presence known, then it is time to stop, and listen, and bask in the intimacy of the moment. When we open the door to him, there is no greater joy, no greater peace that enters into our life. Are you hearing the gentle sound of his presence knocking at your door, seeking to bring into your life the things you will never find on your own? Invite him in, Not only will your life be changed, but you'll discover that he has "food to eat that you do not know about.”
